Anatomic Posterolateral Corner Reconstruction
Various techniques have been described for management of injuries of the posterolateral corner (PLC) of the knee. The anatomic PLC reconstruction technique has numerous benefits, including the restoration of the anatomy of the 3 primary stabilizers of the PLC – the fibular collateral ligament, popliteal tendon, and popliteofibular ligament. Studies have demonstrated that anatomic reconstruction has lower rates of reoperation compared to primary repair of the PLC. Additionally, anatomic reconstruction has demonstrated improved subjective and objective clinical outcomes compared to both repair and non-surgical treatment.
