Second Opinions
Undergoing surgery, regardless of how minor, is a serious healthcare decision. Being confident in both your diagnosis and surgical team is important. Take advantage of a second opinion from renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jorge Chahla. A second opinion can reinforce the proposed treatment plan or present you with alternative treatment options.
Chicago-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jorge Chahla is available to provide an orthopedic second opinion by reviewing your healthcare records and diagnostic imaging as well as performing a physical examination to confirm your diagnosis. Dr. Chahla, in conjunction with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR), provides internationally renowned orthopedic care. We’re fortunate to have patients travel to Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush from around the world.
To initiate an orthopedic second opinion from Dr. Chahla, and schedule your hip, knee, or shoulder office consultation with Dr. Chahla, call 312-432-2531 to speak directly to a member of Dr. Chahla’s team today to coordinate an appointment that works best for you. Prior to your appointment, please gather a copy of your medical records, CD of all prior imaging for the affected joint, any operative reports and/or photos if applicable, and radiology results of previous diagnostic imaging of the affected joint. These items will help to provide Dr. Chahla with a better understanding of the details of your orthopedic injury.
Clinical Case/Imaging Review
Even if you do not live in the Chicago, Naperville, Oak Brook, Illinois or Munster, Indiana communities, and are simply in need of an expert second opinion, Dr. Chahla can still help. After reviewing your case history, MRIs and/or X-rays, Dr. Chahla can provide you with:
- Additional knowledge about your diagnosis
- Additional knowledge about treatment options
- Additional knowledge about the recovery and rehabilitation process
We appreciate the value you place in Dr. Chahla’s opinion by submitting an inquiry for a clinical case and imaging review to be performed by Dr. Jorge Chahla, MD, PhD. Dr. Chahla welcomes your request for a fee of $300.00. Please note that this fee will not be billed to insurance, nor will it be applicable towards any future service with our office.
The link below will guide you to Dr. Chahla’s Clinical Case/Imaging Review packet that will lead you through the process of making a request.
Please follow the instructions for submitting your completed packet for review. After your completed packet has been received, payment will be collected via your preferred method indicated in the packet.
Once your completed packet for review and payment have been received, a team member will be in contact with you to schedule a virtual telemedicine appointment to discuss Dr. Chahla’s findings. Again, this appointment will not be billed through insurance, but rather, it is included in the above clinical case and imaging review fee of $300.00. Please keep in mind that Dr. Chahla cannot offer a full recommendation on imaging alone. To finalize a diagnosis and treatment plan, a physical examination would need to be completed at one of our Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush clinical locations.

Benefits of a Second Opinion/Case Review
With the supplementary information provided from a second opinion or case review, patients are able to compare diagnosis and treatment results between two physicians and confirm the plan that is the best individualized option for them.
You may feel concerned about offending your treating physician by obtaining a medical second opinion. However, information is vital to all patients when it comes to their healthcare, and obtaining a second opinion is a normal practice with cartilage restoration as well as knee, hip, shoulder, and sports related injuries. Most physicians welcome a second opinion from a respected peer. Be honest with your original physician and they should be understanding of your interest to seek additional knowledge about your diagnosis and treatment options. A good physician encourages a patient’s right to be well-informed in order to understand his or her healthcare choices. Plus, a medical second opinion service may help determine a different diagnosis and/or treatment plan, improving the overall outcome for the patient.
